Mission Statement

To promote sociability in the community,

to aid worthy community projects and

to govern and maintain the building and property

for the use of the community.

Interesting History & Facts

  1. Founded in 1919.

  2. Log clubhouse built by men of Story in 1930 on donated land.

  3. The club members provide dinner to any bereaved family in the community.

  4. Mondays the club is open from 10 to 3 for cultural arts.

  5. Tuesdays Senior lunch is served.

  6. The Story Womans Club meets the 1st Thursday of the month, 1:30 p.m., except for July.

  7. Story Garden Club meets the 2nd Thursday of the month.

  8. Halloween Haunted house for Story School students October 31st.

  9. Lions Club meetings.

  10. Civic meetings

  11. Elections

  12. The members donate to the 4-H Sheridan County Fair and stamps for Veterans.

  13. The Sheridan County annual flu clinic is held every October.

  14. Any resident or organization can rent the building and is often used for private events such as family dinners, birthday parties, wedding receptions, library staff dinners.

  15. The Cowboy Church of the Big Horns rent the facility on Sundays.

  16. 75 members of the club raise approximately 18k a year to maintain building not including capital expenditures like the recent replacement of rotten logs and new chinking.

  17. Members of the club donate turkeys to the Story Food Bank for Thanksgiving dinners.

  18. Each year a Christmas Party is help in appreciation  for the members and is the only event that the members do not work. A local charity is chosen, and the members donate to the charity. 2020 Story School was chosen, and students received books as Christmas gifts.

  19. Members of the club donate the food and labor for fundraisers.

  20. We are here for the community and appreciate the community's support for the over 100 year history of the Story Womans Club. In addition, we thank Wyoming Community Foundation, Stanley Sanitation for donating their collection service and Tri County Propane for a free fill of propane and tank rental each year and the Story Store for helping with our annual Duck Race entries and keeper of the key.
